Baby Medina

Joe Medina is a Fresno native, now residing in Los Angeles, whose music project MERCH has taken him far and wide. His most recent album under that moniker is titled ‘Amour Bohemian’, which received unanimous critical acclaim and received coverage everywhere from Popmatters to NBC. Recorded analog in multiple studios and with 65 collaborators that ranged from the Prague FILMharmonic Orchestra to some of the most renowned musicians in the San Francisco and Los Angeles psych scenes, ‘Amour Bohemian’ has become a favorite among vinyl enthusiasts, even receiving a rare ‘A’ rating from The Vinyl District.

Now, Joe Medina has been making music that is different enough from his main project that it only made sense to approach it under a different moniker. Baby Medina takes the musical period between The Day The Music Died and the debut of The Beatles as its jumping-off point, a time of teen idols whose songs reached peak melodrama while also being catchy enough to move your feet to. Medina takes these songs as inspiration, but then adds an exciting new take on the style through the use of modern effects, contemporary subject matter, and a lo-fi aesthetic. Fans of everything from early 1960s anthems to noise-pop are not going to want to miss this. Baby Medina will be presenting these songs at the Rogue Festival ahead of planned singles and albums, as well as national and international touring.
